The Vintage Sports Car Club of America (VSCCA) kicked off their 2023 event schedule last weekend with a gathering at Mitch and Kim McCullough’s shop in Northern New Jersey. Members of the VSCCA and long-time vintage race, rally, and concours participants, the McCullough’s opened their doors to members looking to socialize, learn a little, and prepare for the upcoming race season.

Mitch gave visitors a presentation about the cars in the collection and shared stories about their experience at the 2022 Le Mans Classic and Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in their 1964 Alpine M64. The car was also shown at Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, and Chantilly.

The cars, prepared and maintained by Graham Long, include early Lotus race cars, early Alpine race cars, historic hot rod, a 1930 Shelsley Walsh hillclimb veteran, and vintage racing and rallying Porsches. Two cars earned awards at the 2022 Pebble Beach concours.

Long offered some practical advice for the coming season with a maintenance walkaround of a Lotus 22 Formula Junior.

Up next for the VSCCA is its April gathering this coming weekend at the Nettesheim BMW Museum in Huntington, New York, followed by a preseason shakedown test day at the New York Safety Track April 21. More information, including the entire 2023 calendar, can be found HERE.
