VARA 50th Anniversary season kicks off this weekend in Arizona

By

Founded in 1973, the Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA) is set to kick off its golden anniversary year Friday, February 17, at the Podium Club in Casa Grande, Ariz. The 2.32-mile 15 turn track features banked turns and rolling elevation changes, and is the “ideal venue for our season-opening Southwest Shootout race,” said VARA GM Jeanette Bourke.

“We’re super excited to go back. The staff is great, and we got a lot of positive feedback from our members last year,” Bourke added.

More information about the 3-day race weekend, including an entry list  can be found HERE.

Looking ahead, VARA will host its 50th Anniversary celebration March 5th at the Fullerton Airport Hangar 21 venue. More details will be released soon, but organizers promise an abundance of memorabilia and storytelling.

Another noteworthy event on the schedule will be the season-ending Big Bore Bash, Nov. 11-2, at Willow Springs Raceway. VARA plans to not only celebrate its own special anniversary, but also the 70th anniversary of Corvette and Willow Springs as well.
