This year’s 17th annual Barber Vintage Festival, surely one of the most highly anticipated motorcycle events in the world, is scheduled for October 7-9. The three-day festival on the grounds of the spectacular Barber Motorsports Park in the outskirts of Birmingham, Ala., features a world-class swap meet with hundreds of vendors selling vintage motorcycles and parts, the popular Fan Zone with food and entertainment, as well as the annual Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club (VJMC) gathering—the club dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and enjoyment of 20-yers-or-older Japanese motorcycles.

This year’s Festival Grand Marshal is restoration expert, motocross pioneer and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Brian Slark, technical consultant at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. Slark has been involved in numerous interesting projects, ranging from The Art of the Motorcycle exhibition organized by The Guggenheim Museum to an instrumental role in the establishment of the Barber Vintage Festival.

He will be honored at the Motorcycles by Moonlight event on Oct. 7. This special event begins with a cocktail reception followed by a silent auction, seated dinner, program and a Q&A with the Grand Marshal..

Barber Motorsports Park is a campus of entertainment, education and creation featuring a 2.38-mile, 17-turn professional racetrack, the Barber Proving Grounds, and the Porsche Track Experience.

It is also home to the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum which houses the world’s largest collections of motorcycles, Lotus racecars and the Barber Advanced Design Center.
