The iconic Watkins Glen International road course played host to the Vintage Racer Group’s (VRG) spectacular fall race. More than 165 cars filled the paddock on Thursday, Sept. 22, preparing for three full days of racing and an abundance of track time at one one North America’s premiere race tracks.

Mother Nature must have heard it is officially fall as temperatures plunged from the mid-80s early in the week down to the 50s by the time the first green flag dropped Friday.

Racers were undeterred by the wind chill though—and the same must be said for VM’s intrepid East Coast correspondent Bill Stoler who was on hand all weekend to capture and share the sights.

Phil Meany (’69 Gropa/ Chevron CMC 11) had a good weekend, finishing P2 & P3 in consecutive Group 4 races.

Mark Clark was dominant behind the wheel of his ’90 Swift DB5 throughout the weekend winning all of the Group 4 races. He also managed to handle lawn care duties for the track… what a guy.

Ron Polimeni returned to Watkins Glen for the first time since 1975 in his Volvo PV544 – raced in a SCCA event 47 years ago at the Glen.
