Vintage Indy will open open a five-event 2022 season with back-to-back weekends in June with entries for more than 50 historic machines in hand, said the organizations founder and president, Michael Lashmett.
Fans at Road America (June 9-12 with IndyCar) and the Indianapolis MotorSpeedway (June 16-19 with the SVRA SpeedTour) can see cars ranging from the 1932 Hup Comet to the iconic Lotus 56 STP Turbine and the 1972 Indy record breaking AAR/Olsonite Eagle Offy.
This will be the third consecutive year that Vintage Indy has been a companion event to IndyCar at Road America and the first time in over three years that the historic racers have been featured on track at IMS. There the vintage machines will get multiple on-track sessions over three days on both the road course and legendary oval with the cars garaged in Gasoline Alley throughout the weekend.
Other events on the Vintage Indy schedule are Nashville’s Big Machine Music City Grand Prix Aug. 5-7 and the Bommarito 500 Aug. 18-20 at WWT Raceway, both of which are with IndyCar, along with an inaugural visit Sept. 29-Oct. 2 for the American Speed Festival at Pontiac, Michigan’s, M1 Concourse.
