2022 Masters Historic Racing US Tour Will Kick Off At Heralded Laguna Seca Raceway

Fitting that the ever-expanding Masters Historic Racing opens its 2022 North American calendar on April 1-3 at one of the world’s most historic race tracks: WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

All three of its Masters US Tour series will kick off their seasons at the home of The Corkscrew, “with plenty of track time and a relaxed paddock atmosphere” to be expected—the mission of MHR’s founder and president Ron Maydon since the organizations founding in 2004.

The First Orion Monterey Motorsport Celebration is a new race event, organized and promoted by GT Celebration. Along with the GTC run groups, the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America West and Ultimate Track Days groups will also be taking part in a weekend featuring much to look forward to!

While a detailed weekend schedule has not yet been published, MHR expects the weekend to open with a Thursday (probably late-afternoon or evening) load-in. Track action will get underway on Friday morning, with practice sessions in the morning for the Masters Formula Atlantic Plus, followed by afternoon Masters Endurance Legends and Masters Historic Formula One sessions.

Saturday and Sunday will see racing for all three groups with a travel-friendly early afternoon finish.

The Historic Grand Prix series features 3-liter Formula 1 cars; Endurance Legends is for 1982-2017 “America-style” endurance machines; and the new FAtl Plus series is for 1969-1986 under-2-liter single-seaters.

F1 and Atlantic competitors will square off in five 2022 events; eight races are scheduled for Endurance campaigners.
