Conceived by renowned designer Howard “Dutch” Darrin, the distinctive Kaiser Darrin remains an undisputed classic. Initially a self-funded project by the designer, the Kaiser Darrin entered production for 1954 at the insistence of Henry J. Kaiser’s wife. This example is the 22nd of just 435 Kaiser Darrins built.
The Flaminia Sport presented here, chassis 824.13.3149, is one of just 174 examples produced featuring the original 2.5-liter engine (Tipo 823.10) paired with three Weber 35DCN carburetors – a desirable feature that increased output to 140 bhp.
Just two years after the Ghibli was first introduced, Maserati upped the ante with the SS version. Horsepower was increased to 335, which enabled a top speed of 175 mph, turning the Ghibli SS into the fastest Maserati road car of the day. This Giorgetto Giugiaro designed beauty is equipped with a 4.9-liter V-8 and ZF five-speed gearbox.
