Abundant track time, sensible race groups, a focus on safety and legendary Southwest hospitality backstop all Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing Oklahoma and Texas events. Add in the chance to race on a true destination race track—the 3.426-mile Circuit of The Americas—and you have a recipe for a whole lot of vintage racing fun.

And no question, “fun” is one of CVAR’s many goals in reviving the River Cities Road Races scheduled for Friday-Sunday, February 11-13, at COTA in Austin, Texas—a race weekend headlining not only the Texas-based club’s six-race 2022 schedule but also the ’22 vintage season.

As noted here last November, the original River City Road Races were SCCA sanctioned and run on a street circuit incorporating sections of Riverside Drive across the Colorado River from downtown Austin. Run every year from 1963 to 1980, the RCRR was one of the most significant amateur sports car racing events in Texas.

The entry deadline for the Revival is Feb. 9, and the entries are pouring in. The CVAR event marks a relatively rare opportunity to race at COTA, and north/midwest vintage racers must be anxious to escape the snow…
