I’ve said this a few times now, but a favorite pastime of mine when a new issue comes out is to peruse the internet for additional content about a given Vintage Motorsport feature. Things were no different when the Jan/Feb 2022 arrived last week. In fact, Editor-In-Chief D. Randy Riggs even mentioned a specific video in the latest issue’s My Favorite Race feature, chatting with two-wheel legend Kenny Roberts. Needless to say, YouTube was the first stop after finishing the article.

The 5.5-minute video from 2009 gives a brief background of Kenny’s history with the bike and then onto Kenny getting in the saddle and riding it again, 34 years after their race together. He casually mentions that he hadn’t ridden a motorcycle in over a year at that point, but when he takes the bike for a few laps around the Indy Mile, it’s clear that his talent still exceeds his modesty. It looks like he even impressed MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, who was in town for that year’s Indianapolis Grand Prix.

With the expanded context and details that the article provides, the video is a wonderful complement… and hearing that engine wide open is something spectacular as well. Enjoy!
