Any chef will say that the first and most important step of a good meal is to start with quality ingredients. The same must hold true for… car events?

Now in its seventh iteration, Luftgekuhlt openly embodies that very notion. It is not enough to simply assemble an exceptional and diverse group of air-cooled Porsches, they must be displayed within a setting that is as appealing and enjoyable as possible. The important combination is even explained as “The Recipe” on their website.

And so it has grown, both in size and popularity, to the spectacle that it is today. With somewhat humble beginnings at the Deus Ex Machina lot in Vence, CA to Luftgekuhlt 7 held recently at the Bottleworks District in downtown Indianapolis – A 12-acre development at the original Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Indianapolis location. After a long wait between shows <insert broken record pandemic commentary here>, crowds showed up in droves to prove the winning combination lives on.

Another wonderful byproduct of this combination is the stunning photos that always come out of a Luftgekuhlt event. The artwork does need to be captured and preserved after all. Photos from the latest event are on display throughout this post thanks to renowned automotive photographer Larry Chen. Larry does an excellent job of capturing the essence of whatever he shoots and Luft 7 was no exception.
