Watch a NASCAR race on any given weekend and the the broadcast booth dialing up a chat with a driver after a stage or before the race is commonplace. But conducting an interview while driving a 1000km jaunt around Mount Panorama Circuit is not something many drivers would be too keen on.
Though in 1982, three-time Bathurst 1000 winner and V8 Supercars Hall of Famer Dick Johnson did just that as he spoke with Mike Raymond & Gary Wilkinson while wheeling his Ford XE Falcon and talked viewers through the battle ahead of him. Johnson would later be disqualified after finishing fourth for an illegal cylinder head.
