“Ford v Ferrari” GT40 Replica Highlights Mecum Dallas Auction, Sept. 8-11

By

Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector car auction company, returns to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, this Sept. 8-11, with an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, customs and more set to cross the auction block.

Among the featured vehicles is a 1966 RCR Ford GT40 Replica that is one of six built by Race Car Replicas for use in the award-winning film “Ford v Ferrari” (photo above). Powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 engine and featuring a 6-speed manual transmission, the vehicle was nicknamed the “Dan Gurney Car” since it was the No. 3 car used in the Le Mans race scenes.

Another highlight is a 1969 Chevrolet Central Office Production Order (COPO) Camaro with just 3,645 miles on the odometer. With its original Daytona Yellow paint, sheet metal and interior, it’s been in the same family for 45 years.

The William Scott Collection includes five vehicles, each boasting a high-quality restoration, and including an MCA Gold Award-winning 1969 Shelby GT350 Fastback with a matching-numbers 351 cid engine and 4-speed transmission; a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback with a matching-numbers 428 cid engine and 4-speed transmission; a 1965 Pontiac GTO with a 389/335 hp engine and 4-speed transmission; a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS packing a 396/375 hp engine and its original Muncie M21 transmission; and a 1970 Plymouth GTX with a V-Code 440 6-bbl engine, transmission and differential.

Bidder registration is available both online in advance and on-site at the auction, and it includes admission for two persons to the four auction days. Presiding health and safety protocols will remain in place for all those in attendance.

For those unable to attend in person, enhanced remote bidding options are also available, with options for both online and telephone bidding.
