According to the HMA, the museum earned the title through its world-class exhibits, dedication to preserving automotive history, global education initiatives and a successful pivot to digital engagement during the global pandemic that included organizing the world’s first digital cars and coffee events, a virtual Monterey Car Week, a digital fundraising gala, and several exclusive collection tours with preeminent enthusiasts.
The annual awards honor the people, cars and institutions that best exemplify the classic car hobby. Awardees are selected from nominations from the auto industry and the public after voting by a panel of judges.
Other honorees include Lady Susie Moss (Lifetime Achievement Award) and McKeel Hagerty (Classic Car Ambassador of the Year).
