Race Cars Among Special Classes at 2021 Amelia Island Concours

By

Jacksonville, FL — The Amelia Island Concours revealed that special classes for the March 4-7, 2021 event will include Porsche 935 turbos; Shadow race cars; Chevy Thunder cars with small block and big block racing engines; and Ferrari 275 GTB racers.

The concours will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the 200-plus mph Porsche 935 turbos that once ruled international endurance racing, amassing championship titles from Daytona to Le Mans. Its popularity remains so potent that Porsche is creating 77 tribute cars to the 935/78 Moby Dick Le Mans racer based on the 911 GT2 RS.

Another highlight will be the Shadow race cars of Don Nichols, including the Shadow Mk 1 of 1970; the 1974 Can-Am champion DN4; and Alan Jones’ 1977 Austrian Grand Prix winner, the Shadow DN8A.

The event will also feature a special class for 1970s muscle cars and another for supercars of the 1980s and 1990s.

Applications are now being accepted for the concours’ Cars and Coffee, and tickets for all activities are on sale.
