The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering announced that the 2020 edition of the event will be suspended in response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

The Peninsula Hotels Signature Events and Quail Lodge & Golf Club have been closely monitoring the global spread of the virus and strictly adhering to the advice of City, County, State, and Federal government authorities and health officials daily. They are following all recommended guidelines for preventing the spread of the virus and its impact on the community as the safety and security of guests, entrants, partners, volunteers, and employees remain their highest priority. Therefore, after careful consideration they have made the difficult decision to suspend The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering that was scheduled to take place during Monterey Car Week on Friday, August 14, 2020, as well as The Quail Rally, the intimate multi-day motoring experience that was scheduled for Monday, August 10 through Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
As a long term partner of The Quail, Bonhams is very much aligned with this decision and will also postpone the 23rd Quail Lodge Auction originally scheduled for August 13 and 14, 2020. They will hold an alternate auction in California around this time for which details will be communicated by Bonhams directly in the near future.
With the suspension of this year’s event, the organizers look forward to welcoming everyone back to the 18th Annual The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August 13, 2021, hosted on the green grasses of the Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, California. The Quail Rally will re-commence Monday, August 9 through Wednesday, August 11, 2021. The 23rd Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction will take place on Thursday, August 12 and Friday, August 13, 2021.

Current ticket purchases are valid for the 2021 event date and can be rolled over to directly bypass the 2021 lottery process. If any guest is unable to join the event in 2021, a full refund (including any transaction fees) will be granted.

All confirmed Entrants for The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering 2020 have the option to either receive a full refund (including any transaction fees) or to roll-over their payment for automatic acceptance at the 2021 event. The 18th annual featured classes will remain as originally planned, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Lamborghini Urraco and Jarama, 50th Anniversary of the Alfa Romeo Montreal, and 50th Anniversary of the Citroën SM. The Quail’s traditional classes include: Pre-War Sports and Racing, Post-War Racing, Post-War Sports, The Great Ferraris, The Evolution of the Supercar, Custom Coachwork, and Sports and Racing Motorcycles.

All registered Participants for The Quail Rally 2020 have the option to either receive a full refund (including any transaction fees) or to roll-over their payment for the 2021 event. Regardless of the decision made, all confirmed 2020 Participants will automatically receive an advanced invitation to guarantee their spot on The Quail Rally 2021.
All Ticketholders, Entrants, and Participants of The Quail Rally will receive an email on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, with further directions to select the option that best works for them and steps to roll-over their tickets or fees or to receive a refund.
