Hilton Head Island, SC — The coveted Best of Show honor was awarded Sunday (Nov. 3) at the closing event of the 18th annual Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival, held on the island’s Port Royal Golf Club, to a 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet owned by Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Jepson Jr. of Savannah, Ga.

The Mercedes-Benz was selected over two other cars vying for the top award: a 1958 Studebaker Golden Hawk owned by Mark James of Lancaster, Pa., and a 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE owned by W. Ronald Gaertner, M.D. of Manakin-Sabot, Va.

Concours attendees chose a 1929 Ford Station Wagon owned by Thomas and Donna Fitzgerald of Selma, N.C., as their People’s Choice winner.

More than 500 vehicles participated in the 18th annual festival where renowned collector and best-selling author Clive Cussler and his wife Janet were recognized as the 2019 Pinnacle Collectors while Walter Eisenstark was the Honored Collector.

The 2020 event is scheduled for Oct. 23-Nov. 1.
