Logansport, IN–It looks likely. And if that happens, the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association event–a staple at Road America since 1985–could just become one of the largest vintage race festivals in the United States.

The Formula Ford faithful are showing up in a big way to celebrate the marque’s half-century milestone.
“The count I just got is 224 Formula Ford entries,” ELVF Co-Chair Mike Korneli told us Tuesday. “The last three years we have hit 325 for our overall entry list, although we know we will have fewer Formula Vees due to the timing of an event on the EastCoast a week before. Overall, we have multiple entries from Canada, an entry fromMexico and Australia.”
VSCDA anticipated and responded to early entry demand by adding a third FF group back in April. Formula Ford feature races will highlight Saturday and Sunday with a bonus East vs. West Challenge race on the schedule to close out the event.

And while Formula Ford is the featured marque, Korneli noted that the VSCDA’s 10 traditional run groups will still receive ample track time, including regular races and the 10th anniversary running of three Cup Races where grid positions are based on times rather than groups. The club also opted to add a day to the schedule with a second Test & Tune day (Sept. 11).
The Jeff Porasik Enduro will again raise funds to benefit the Disabled AmericanVeterans organization while the traditional Road Course Re-Enactment and the Gather on the GreenConcours are also on tap. Paul Page, the “Voice of the Indianapolis 500,” will be the event’s Honored Guest and will speak at Saturday night’s dinner.
“Everyone in VSCDA is excited to be a part of what promises to be the largest Formula Ford event in the country,” Korneli said. “As a club, we have had to dig deep to get the volunteers we need to ensure this event comes off smoothly.People have stepped up and we probably added 200 new members just for the FF event.
