Garage Unlimited of Monterey Offering Tours During Car Week

By

Monterey, CA — A new garage-condo development, Garage Unlimited of Monterey, has answered car owners’ need for upscale and secure automobile storage on the Monterey Peninsula — and interested attendees of the upcoming annual auto fest and vintage races can arrange for tours of the facility while they’re in Monterey.

Ironically, while the area becomes the center of the automotive universe each August with Car Week encompassing vintage races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, six collector car auctions, multiple car shows and tours, culminating in the Pebble Beach Concours, there’s been a chronic lack of suitable vehicle storage in the area.

San Jose developer Ralph Borelli saw the need and earlier this year completed construction on the 46-unit facility located near the Monterey airport, just minutes from the race track. Two-thirds of the units ranging from 1,384 to 2,696 square feet have already sold. They’re designed to be ideal for local residents (many of whom have small or non-existent garages) and visitors who come to race or show their cars.

The units have ceilings as high as 25 feet to accommodate a mezzanine space for a personal office or den/retreat and are built with vehicle owners in mind. Features include 10- to12-foot roll-up doors, generous exterior drive/maneuver lanes, separate walk-in doors, Cat 6 wiring for internet/phone, optional cable TV, compressed air, water and an on-site RV dump station, plus room for large storage items such as a boat or motorcoach.

Security includes full perimeter fencing, 24/7 code-restricted entry-exit gates, common-area video monitoring and monitored alarms in each unit.

Borelli already has plans for a second such project, the Monterey Motorsports Park, located on six acres fronting Highway 68 near the Monterey airport. The 90,000-square-foot MMP complex will feature some 100 upscale garage condos starting at approximately 300 square feet, and is scheduled to open early in 2019. The Quail founder Gordon McCall is also serving as an ambassador and partner on the two projects, and plans to move his McCall Events firm to one of the MMP units.
