Blenheim, Ontario, CANADA — RM Sotheby’s announced Tuesday that its annual South Florida sale will move in 2020 to Palm Beach International Raceway from its previous location at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, which will be undergoing a major expansion and remodel next year. The 18th annual event is slated for March 20-21.
The iconic track near Jupiter, Fla., has a history of drag racing and road racing dating back to 1964, and also hosts collector car events, including the Cavallino Classic.
“We’re looking forward to building on our many years of success in South Florida at our new Palm Beach venue,” said Gord Duff, Global Head of Auctions for RM Sotheby’s Group. “The Fort Lauderdale auction has grown exponentially in value and quality over the last several years and we are excited to bring this growth and atmosphere to PBIR with more than 350 quality collector cars on offer.”
The 2020 Palm Beach sale follows RM Auctions’ best-ever results in South Florida, achieved earlier this year with sales of more than $23.2 million and 80% of all lots sold. Among the top sales were a 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari at $3.08 million and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing at $1.155 million.
